Saturday was definitely a memorable day which I must blog about. Well, our performance definitely can be better since we made mistakes here and there... but overall it's still good lah. Frankly speaking the practices were just not quite enough, if not we can definitely do a lot better. Mr Quek really gave his 101%. For the first few songs, he was perspiring profusely manz~! But after the last song, tears rolled down instead of his sweat. That really melts my heart to see him so sad. To me, I think he's really a great musician and conductor. His love and passion towards music and esp chinese music had definitely influence me. Hope 2 years later, he'll be back to influence more of us and hope I'll still be able to perform under his baton. On the lighter note... First half I was really very nervous esp towards to end of the third song. Phew~! Finally it's over~! Second half I wasn't that nervous initially coz sco was around. Out of the three days sitting with huang cheng da, the performance was the one which I had the most interaction with him manz~! hahaha! First day was really boring. He only commented about my score at the beginning and said to me 2 sentences during the rehearsal.. 1. Play one bow 2. Shhh.... Both less than 5 words and the last was not even a word. Second day... didn't really talk and can't talk either coz it's full-dress rehearsal. Concert day... I changed my score to his. The enlarged version(A3) and without my scrribles. He was telling me not to be so 'ke qi' coz he was able to see my small score(A4) with his eye sight. The music starts... after the first movement I suppose to change page and and score was so big that when I pulled the bottom left corner, the top part starts to fall off and he has to catch it for me. After that for second movement, he wanted to cough but the song was starting, so he controlled and cough during the noisy part. Oh yah~! and my bow! nearly got stuck because the 'hair' dropped off and got caught in between the strings. The most nerve wrecking one come liao... the air con blows and blew the score off the stand...luckily both of us manage to catch it... after that, the score swayed and we were looking at the score closely with our hands ready. There was once when we were playing and the score just flew off...luckily I was vigilant enough to catch it back and allowed huang laoshi to continue... so after the whole repertoire, we stand up and the score sway again... so he said that maybe I should use back the score we used for the past 2 days instead coz we nv faced any prob with it. hahaha~! what an encounter~! Wan ying's score was really sturdy plus those behind me also very safe. Only my score was flying around! But after that, heard zhao jian hua's score flew off(meaning dropped to the floor) when he was playing the solo part and we can hear a little hiccup. His hp rang before the start of the music and he quickly took his battery off. Seems like those who encountered weird situations will continue to experience weird stuff whereas those who were experiencing a smooth ride with continue their safe journey. Why am I facing the first situation and not the second? Suay~! No matter what, it's definitely a memorable experience! Syco really influence me alot! It makes me wanna improve my skills and continue to pursuit my hobby. Basically after failing grade 9, I lost half of the passion towards erhu. Syco inspired me to wanna gain this passion back. This year end I hope to do a lot of things and one of them is to improve on my skills... Time for study... never had revision for one week liao~! tata~!
